Getting to the Conference Center

The Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world and serves as a major hub for leading domestic and international carriers such as Delta Airlines. Hartsfield Airport has two terminals - North and South - with six concourses extending from the main building; the concourses, terminal building, and MARTA station are connected by an underground people mover called the Plane Train.

The city of Atlanta is only ten miles from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and the two are well-connected by road and rail.

International conference attendees, for your convenience, the currency exchange booth is located inside the international terminal next to the Baggage Claim carousel (view map). You will need US currency to purchase a MARTA Breeze Card if you elect to ride the train from the airport to the conference center.

Below you will find directions for getting to the conference center from the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (International and Domestic Terminals) via train (MARTA), as well as helpful information for requesting a ride through other sources.

From Hartsfield- Jackson Baggage Claim

When you are prepared to leave the airport and head towards the GTHCC, please exit through the door labeled "Ground Transportation". From there, you may select the best mode of transportation for your needs. A list of potential options can be found below.

Option 1: Taking the Train

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) is primary public transit operator in the Atlanta area. MARTA is directly connected to  the Domestic Terminal of Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.

  1. From the International Terminal (Cost: Free;  Time: ~10 minutes)

    1. Take the bus at Location #3 (Red) labeled "Domestic Terminal, MARTA Train Station" to the Domestic Terminal.

    2. Exit the bus and enter Domestic Terminal South (Door S7).

  2. From the Domestic Terminal South (Cost: $6 USD;  Time: ~20 minutes)

    1. Follow the signs near the Domestic Baggage Claim to the MARTA Train Station (~20 meters)

    2.  Purchase a MARTA Train Breeze Card (~$6 USD)

    3.  Board either the Yellow or Red Train. ALL trains are Northbound towards Atlanta from the airport.

    4.  Exit the train at the Midtown Station or the North Avenue Station and follow the walking directions to the GTHCC provided below.

  3. Walking from the train station to the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center (Cost: Free;  Time: ~10 minutes)

  1. From the North Avenue Station
    1. Turn left onto 3rd Street, right onto West Peachtree Street, and then left onto 5th Street.

    2. Exit the fare gates and walk straight ahead through an indoor mall to reach the sliding glass doors to 3rd Street.

    3. Follow the signs pointing to the Fox Theatre after getting off the train. The GTHCC is about a block down 5th Street from West Peachtree and will be on the left.

    • Walking:

      1. Take the Peachtree Place exit out of the MARTA station and turn right onto Peachtree Place.

      2. Cross the street to reach the Center.  The trolley runs every six minutes from 7:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.  For more trolley information, visit www.parking.gatech.edu, then follow the Tech Trolley link.

Option 2: Taking an Uber

Uber is a convenient, non-traditional taxi service that provides inexpensive rides to any local destination via a selection of ride types (economy, premium, accessibility, and carpool).

  • The Uber service must be requested online or through the Uber app. You will be required to sign up with Uber in order to use their service. If you already have an account, you may login via their website or use the Uber app to request a ride. The app can be downloaded from iTunes/app store, Google Play, or the Windows/Microsoft App Store

  • Uber can provide a fair estimate to you. The lease expensive option (UberX) costs approximately $13 to $18 USD for the trip from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to the Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center. Rates vary depending on destination, date/time the request is placed, and type of Uber requested.
